A striking antique French ravier, sourced at a flea market in Paris. Made in Longwy, France, the elongated serving dish features an intricate cobalt blue geometric motif surrounding a creamy white center, finished with a fine warm brown border along its gently shaped rim.
Dating to the early 20th century, the piece bears the G. Luny Longwy maker's mark on the underside. The wonderfully graphic decoration gives this traditional French table piece a particularly distinctive character.
Originally used at the French table for small accompaniments and hors d'oeuvres, today it makes a beautiful serving piece or decorative addition to a collection of antique French ceramics.
