We've always loved a home that feels as though it has come together slowly.
Not everything needs to match, and not everything needs to be precious. Some of the most interesting rooms are a mix of things collected over time—an old painting, a piece of pottery, something brought home from a trip, fresh flowers clipped from the garden, or simply a bowl of lemons on the table.
For us, it's the combination of old and everyday that makes a home feel personal.
We especially love incorporating vintage and antique pieces into simple spaces. They bring warmth, texture and a little bit of history that you simply can't recreate with something brand new. An old painting leaning against a wall or a timeworn tray underneath everyday objects can completely change the feeling of a room.
And we don't think creating a collected home needs to happen all at once. In fact, we think it's better when it doesn't.
Find things you genuinely love. Bring them home from your travels. Wander through flea markets and antique shops. Move things from room to room. Use the beautiful pieces instead of saving them for someday.
Over time, your home begins to tell your story.
That's the kind of home we love most—and a little of what we hope to share here at Gathered and Thyme: beautiful things, good food, inspiring places, and the pleasure of collecting it all slowly.
